Heart Opening I

This masterclass of 2 hours will focus on strengthening the spine and opening up the shoulders in order to access deeper backbends. This masterclass is designed to teach you to flow in harmony, synchronizing movement to breath. The main focus of the class will be backbends such as different variations of wheel pose, camel pose and bow pose. We will also touch on some inversions such as forearm stand scorpion, hollowback with the wall and more. Students will be able to access the spine's full range of motion and release any locked tension.

Subtle Effects of Heart Opening

This two hour workshop will focus on the benefits and effects of heart opening. Class will start with a short meditation, followed by an hour and a half of asana, primarily focusing on various back-bending postures, working towards multiple variations of camel pose and wheel pose. This workshop will teach flowing in harmony and synchronizing movement to breath. We will have a deep 10 minute restorative wind down with blankets and sage at the end of class! The last 20 minutes will be devoted to a lecture on the subtle effects of heart opening. We will cover basic anatomy as well as mental/physical benefits of heart opening.

Hip & Heart Opening I

This two hour workshop will cover the basic fundamentals for shoulder and upper spine flexibility as well as hip mobility. We will go over techniques and tips to safely add backbending to your practice. The first hour of class will focus on exploring various ways of deepening flexibility and stability, emphasizing on variations of wheel pose, camel pose and standing backbend. The second hour will focus on hip opening, working towards variations of pigeon, splits and dancer’s pose. We will also have a deep 10 minute restorative wind down with blankets and sage at the end of class!

We will be focusing on different variations of wheel pose, and using the wall to assist with deeper postures. We will also work on inversions such as forearm stand scorpion, handstand hollow back and more, allowing students to access the spine’s full range of motion and release any tension.

It will include techniques to work on shoulder and upper back flexibility, front body lengthening for your hip flexors, and tools for splits to prepare for strong, balanced, healthy backbends. We will examine multiple techniques for practicing backbends in a safe way that is effective for students of all levels.
